Raoul Wallenberg

Raoul Wallenberg was born in 1912, the son of Raoul Gustav Wallenberg and his wife Maj Wising. The father, Raoul Gustav Wallenberg was the cousin of the powerful bankers Jacob and Marcus Wallenberg. During the last part of the war, in 1944-45, Raoul Wallenberg, with the help of the Swedish legation in Budapest, managed to save thousands of Jews from the holocaust. He was then captured by the Russians and disappeared. He was probably killed in a Russian prison camp in 1947.
