Camping

Västmanland offers very good camping facilities for visitors at approx. 20 campgrounds. Since camping is very popular in Sweden it is often necessary to make reservations in advance. Tent sites are cheaper. There is usually an extra fee for electricity for caravans.
The campgrounds in general offer a wide variety of services and activities. Ball games, bike rental, swimming, child-care, canoeing etc. Dogs are usually welcome. Check with local tourist agency for details.

Västmanland has a rich variety of restaurants. Because of its location on the coast of the lake Mälaren and the many rivers, fish is naturally one of the province´s specialities. Salmon, pike-perch, trout and bass are served in many different and delicious ways in the restaurants of Västmanland.

The cities of Västmanland has been able to keep many of their old buildings which are excellent premises for the many cafes of the province. One cafe that are highly recommended is "Gruv-caféet" at the Sala Silvermines.
