Hedareds stave church (Hedareds stavkyrka)
The only preserved stave church in Sweden and probably built during
the 16th century. The interior, made in timber, dates from the early Middle
Ages. The church is situated along route 180 between Borås
and Alingsås.

The chambered tumuli in Falköping (Gånggrifterna i Falköping)
In the middle of Falköping you can study ancient graves from 5 000 years
back in time. In the square in the mediaeval part of the town, there is
a map showing where to find the different findings.

The ruined cloister in Gudhem (Gudhems klosterruin)

The cloister in Gudhem was founded during the 12th century by the cistercienser
order. It was once one of the wealthiest cloisters in Sweden. The cloister
was seriously damaged in a fire in 1529. Some years later it was closed
down. The cloister is located north of Falköping.

This white mediaeval castle is one of the most beautiful ones in Sweden.
Located on a cape in Vänern, the largest lake in Sweden, the scenery is
stunning. Here you can take part in guided tours around the castle, eat
something in the castle's restaurant or at the café in one of the wings
or maybe join the boat tours cruising in the archipelago outside the castle.

Askeberga ship tumulus (Askeberga skeppssättning)
Travelling north-east from Skövde, not far from the village Tidan, one
can admire the second largest ship tumulus in the country. It is 54m long
and consists of 24 giant boulders each at about 25-30 tons. The tumulus
date back to 400-550 AD.
Torpa stone house (Torpa Stenhus)
An ancient ghost is still strolling around in this Renaissance castle.
You might meet him and also admire the well-preserved hall of knights.

The Runestone of Sparlösa (Sparlösastenen)

This remarkable monument from 800 AD tells us stories about ancient
times in two different runic alphabets as well as in figure engravings.
The stone is now conserved and kept in a building next to Sparlösa cemetery.
