Västergötland has many small cities and most of them have less than 25 000 inhabitants. The largest city however, next to Göteborg, is Borås, with 62 000 inhabitants. Although Borås is the eleventh largest urban district in Sweden, the city has the special charm of a small town.
Situated in the middle of the "kingdom of fabrics" many people work in the textile or ready-to-wear clothes' industry. Tourists can buy clothes and textile at a cheap rate. If one is interested in the history of the textile industry, there is a fine museum, showing what it once looked like.
Borås also has a famous wildlife park, with animals from all over the world.

Skövde

Among other larger towns in Västergötland is Skövde located in the north-eastern part of the province. In August Skövde attracts thousands of people to the annual food festival.

Trollhättan is a town well worth visiting. Situated on the river Göta älv, Trollhättan is famous for the flights of locks, built during two centuries. Partly, they are still in use.
