The province is perfect for this kind of holiday since it can offer you more than 3 000 lakes and watercourses. Canoeing is a very special way of getting through the landscape. It is such a quiet way of travelling that you have the possibility to see both elk and beaver. There are several marked canoe tours right throughout Värmland where you find prepared places to stay overnight and toilets. You can paddle in the lake system of Bergslagen, around Karlskoga, Kristinehamn, Filipstad and Storfors where all the magic lakes are connected by the Bergslagschannel. You can also paddle in the north-eastern part of the province around the village of Gustav Adolf. Another marked canoe tour is called Vikingaleden. It stretches from Säffle to Glafsfjorden close to Arvika. You do not need to bring your own canoe; professional canoe centres can provide you with everything you need for a trip. You can even hire your own guide to take you through the landscape by canoe.
