In the valley of Lake Fryken, along the valley of the river Klarälven and around the lake Vänern in the Southern Värmland, you can find the Swedish soul of nature The river Klarälven is like a vein that runs through the landscape. It was used for transporting wood from the northern part of the province down to the sawmills in the south. You can fish in the river all the way, from Karlstad in the south to Sysslebäck in the north. There are also other open waters in Värmland where you can find excellent fishing spots. Värmland is an excellent recreation area. There are a lot of lakes, streams, high mountains and deep forests. You can go trekking, canoeing, go by raft, ride a bike or a horse and there are still a lot more to do. If you visit Värmland, do not forget to see some of the beautiful nature that we are so proud of. If you want to see Värmland from a high perspective you can visit Tossebergsklätten in the valley of Lake Fryken or Branäsberget which is situated in the north of Värmland, about 190 km from Karlstad. Some people call Värmland the most southern wilderness in Sweden. It might be true, since it really is on the border between the fertile flat country in southern Sweden and Norrland's more barren nature. Useful information Quiz game Contents About... E-mail |
