Linnaeus´ Hammarby

Carl von Linné had Hammarby built in 1762 and he held lectures in the summers in the museum which was erected in the park in 1769. A small botanical garden is located in front of the main house and many of the plants that Linné planted still grow there. In the main house one can see the many extraordinary artefacts, which belonged to the "blomsterkungen" (the flower king).

Skoklosters Castle

The castle is considered to be one of the world´s foremost baroque museums, the collection includes Arcimboldos fruitgod. It was in 1654 that fieldmarshal Carl Gustaf Wrangel started building the castle. It was completed in 1660, interior decorating continued until about 1700. The building of the castle was never actually completed and the ballroom stands as an excellent example of what a building site looked like in the 17th century. The castle is situated 21 km north of Bålsta.

Kvekgården

The farm is one of the few complete older farms that are preserved in their original location. It is from the middle of the 18th century and is complete with farmhouse and stables etc. The farm is now an open-air museum that depicts farmlife in Sweden during the 18th century.

Enköpings Museum

In Enköping´s Museum you can delve deeply into bygone ages. Start off in ancient times, continue via the middle ages through to the 18th and 19th centuries. There is also a handicraft exhibition and you finish your stroll in a replica of what a Swedish town looked like in the beginning of the 20th century.

Skokloster Motor Museum

A collection of old beautiful cars from the turn ot the century to the present time. From a vehicle dated from 1898 with 4,5 h.p. to the first rocket car in Europe with 17 000 h.p. There are about 40 cars and several old motorcycles and three aeroplanes.

Carolina Rediviva

The oldest university library in Sweden. Founded in 1620. There are more than five millions books and 3 500 running metres of manuscripts. Among them are the famous Silver Bible dated from the 6th century, the handmade Mexicomap by Alonzo de Santa Cruz dated from 1555 and a manuscript by Mozart. There are several other manuscripts from well-known writers and scientists.
