Actual mining is mentioned for the first time in 1481, when silver was mined. The Dannemora mines laid the foundation for the industrial expansion in Uppland in the 17th century. "Storrymningen", which is the largest quarry, measures an impressive 200 metres. Mining was disbanded in 1992. Mårten Triewald´s house is located in the southern part of the mining area. Triewald built the first Swedish steam-engine in 1726 and it still stands there. Phone: 0295-200 72
