The province has a rich flora and fauna including the sea-eagle and the province flower Snake´s head. Uppland offers excellent recreational opportunities such as fishing, trekking, cycling and golf. Uppland has also been a historical focal point since the Iron Age. There are many interesting artefacts to be seen such as runestones, grave fields, castles and churches. Uppland is the birthplace of Swedish industry and one can still see iron forged with the same methods that were in use in the 16th and 17th centuries.
