Major Cities in Uppland

Uppsala is the capital of Uppland and is also Sweden´s fourth largest
city. It is a town which has inspired many great individuals such as artists,
scientists and spiritual leaders through the ages. Ingmar
Bergman was born here and Dag Hammarskjöld moved here at the age of
two. Their skill in their respective fields are admired. Uppsala is also
the place where Carl von Linné lived and worked.
Uppsala has about 180 000 inhabitants and is located in a
very expansive area. But it is its historical heritage that separates Uppsala
from other cities. The town has the largest cathedral in Scandinavia as
well as Scandinavia´s first university. There is also a very impressive
castle in Uppsala which is worth a visit.

Enköping has 35 000 inhabitants and is situated on the shores of Mälaren,
thus providing excellent bathing and aquatic sports. Enköping is renowned
for its leisure activities. The town has even
received a citation for excellence in 1983.
