Youth Hostels

There are a number of youth hostels in Medelpad and Ångermanland. The prices are generally very moderate. On Högbonden island you will find the only youth hostel with a light house on the top of a steep hill. Book in advance in July and August.

Restaurants

Herring in diffrent forms and shapes is the staple food of the province. A famous speciallity is sour hering, fermented Baltic herring. (It is yeasted for a year and then you eat it!). It has some similarity to "Stink fish" in Alaska. Here you buy it in a tin and eat it.

Medelpad/Ångermanland has a great variety of restaurants with different cuisine. Here you can find the modern worlds staple from Mc Donalds hamburgers to Chinese food.
