Sights and Attractions in Västerbotten: Forest
Åsele Hembygdsområde (Åsele Homestead) A
large collection of textiles and clothing. A completely furnished farmhouse
after an over class family from the 1850's. Handicrafts fair in the barn
produced by local crafters. Café open everyday during the summer.
Björnlandets (The Bear Land) National Park,
Åsele Built in 1991 as a reserve for Sweden's most valued virgin
forest. The forest is dominated by pine trees. The oldest has been dated to 450
years old. In the eastern part of the park there are hiking trails and
information maps.
Långforsen (Long Falls), Vännäs In a
distance of 3km the Long Falls drops 16m. The falls are located in a beautiful
wooded area with planned trails and good fishing. Be sure to see the view from
Tavelsjöberget.
Pengsjö Museum, Vännäs A museum of the
history of Swedish pioneers in Norrland during the 16th-18th centuries. Many
buildings from both the early Swedes as well as the Laplanders can be seen
here. Many objects of cultural historical interest are on display.
Mårdseleforsarna (Mårdsels Rapids), Vindeln
Nature reserve, hanging bridges over the rapids, water polished cliffs and
ravines. Bring your own fishing gear, for fun for the whole family. Rest cabins
and fireplaces for grilling are located on the reserve.
The Worlds Longest Cable-car Ride, Norsjö The
cable-car will take you on a breath-taking trip of 13 km. There is place for 4
adults in each car and the trip takes about 2 hours. You glide along, between 7
and 20m from the ground, over forest, lakes,and bog. After a snack at the
café you are returned to the start by bus.
