Art and Handicraft
Lappstaden (Laplander town), Arvidsjaur
Lappstaden is the oldest preserved church town. With about 80 Lapphuts
and lodgings. Lappstaden has never been a permanent settlement but was
instead used as temporary lodging during church holidays and fairs. Today
the huts are used when the Laplanders hold their parliamentary session
the last week-end in August. Guides tours through Sita Sameland are available.

Jukkasjarvi Homestead, Jukkasjärvi
Jukkasjärvi is an old marketplace for Laplanders. It is today one of
Lapland's most popular tourist attractions. Here is one of Sweden's oldest
Laplander churches with the altarpiece of the artist Bror Hjort. Jukkasjärvi
Wärdshus is well-known for its excellent kitchen, a must for the gourmet
wanting to try the local delicacies.

A world famous museum founded by Lappmark's doctor Einar Wallquist.
Collections from the pioneer days when the Swedes first started to colonize
the northern provinces as well as silver that the Laplanders traded in
exchange for furs and skins at the coastal markets. The collection of Laplander
silver is among the best in the world.
