Museums
Jamtli Museum
The first in and outdoor museum in Sweden. Visit Historyland, with very
authentic 18th and 19th century surroundings. Inside the museum, which
is partly built below the surface of the ground, you can see one of Sweden's
most peculiar exhibitions with mountains and wolves' lairs for the children.
Among the many fascinating objects, you will find the big trap which was
used in the early 19th century, in an attempt to catch the great lake monster.
Sommarhagen
The home of Wilhelm Peterson-Berger, on the prettiest side of Frösön.
Peterson-Berger is one of Sweden's mostly played composers in his genre.
Beautiful butterflies
In Hucksjöåsen, high above the forests of the Gimå river, lies the Butterfly
museum. Hundreds of species captured by the same person.
Mus-Olles museum
Mus-Olle (Mouse-Olof) was a man who collected everything! Boxes, buttons,
rats and eggs, from all over the world, are just a few things. Thousands
of objects which he kept in his home. Now all these things are shown in
a new museum.
