Sights and Attractions in Halland: North
Biskopshagen
Nature reserve, situated on the westernmost tip of the Värö peninsula,
west of Ringhals. Heather covered mountainous coastal plains. Curious stone formations
such as "Raukar". The nature reserve also has ancient Bronze
Age grave-mounds.
Borrås slit
Situated east of Värö church. It is a fantastic passage through a mountain.
Amazing view from top of mountain. On top of the mountain there are the
ruins of an ancient stronghold with the landscape of Halland providing
a splendid background.
Carl XI´s fortifications
Situated on Viskan and south of Veddige church and opposite Kullagården's
mansion house are the remains of fortifications. Built in 1676. After the
victorious battle at Halmstad, the Swedish army was stationed there for
a month. The army was at that time under the command of Carl XI.
Eckerslunds burial field
Iron Age burial field with a grave mounds that were typical of the period.
There is a beautiful view from the ridgeline that runs across the field.
Eckerslund is the site of the world renowned "Jättahögen".

Nature reserve in the Kungsbacka Municipality. Fjärås Bräcka is one
of the most impressive nature reserves in the province. It is a monument
of the Ice Age. From the crest of "Bräckan" you have a grand
view of the lake Lygnern and the surrounding forest. "Bräckan"
has been inhabited since the early Stone Age and is a historical and archaeological
attraction of the highest calibre.
Travel information: From E6 at the Fjärås truckstop towards Fjärås,
then head towards Horred/Gällinge and follow signposts for Fjärås until
the Stena junction. You will see the Li burial field, on the left and the
crest of "Bräckan" on the right.

Town on the Onsala peninsula in the Kungsbacka municipality. Popular
summer community with fishing and bathing. Gottskär is perhaps most famous
for its "Dykcentrum" (diving centre) that provides courses in
diving and organises excursions to wrecks off the coast.
Kalvhultsstugan
"Ryggåsstuga" in the Kungsbacka forest. It is one of the oldest
preserved houses in Halland and it is now refurbished as a museum. Nearby
there is a carpenter's cottage.
Lerkil
Old fishing village as well as a popular beach. Deep-sea fishing trips
depart regularly for Kattegatt where the fishing is plentiful.
Large field of monoliths situated on Fjärås Bräcka with over a hundred
raised stones. The largest and most famous stone is the 4.75 metre high
"Frodestenen". The field also contains a lot of grave mounds
from the iron-age.

Tjolöholms castle is a sight worth seeing. It was built around the turn
of the century. English Tudor style, magnificent Jugend furnishings, beautiful
garden etc. It is one of Hallands greatest tourist attractions.
