Gysinge Iron Mill

The iron mill in Gysinge was founded over 300 years ago. During the following decades they only produced munitions for the Crown but as time passed, the mill expanded and during the 19th century it was one of the largest in Sweden. The bar iron from Gysinge was famous all over Europe. In 1900, world history was written in the small community when the engineer F.A. Kjelling managed to produce steel with the help of electricity. This revolutionary method was used in Gysinge until the shutdown of the mill in 1926.
