In Furuviksparken you can visit a permanent circus where Furuvik's Youth Circus perform every day during the summer. In the cobbled alleys you can find, among other things, the home of Joe Hill, Gunnar Cyrén's glass exhibition and silver workshop, artist's studios etc.Gävle Slott (Gävle Castle)This castle was the northernmost of the "Vasaborgarna" - the castles in Sweden built buy the Vasa family. Gävle Slott has been the residence of the provincial governor since the 17th century.The Home of Joe HillThe famous American trade union activist and poet, Joe Hill, was in fact born in Gävle in 1879. He emigrated to the United States in 1902 and there soon joined the IWW (Industrial Workers of the World). In 1915 he was wrongly accused of murder and executed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today the IWW of Sweden runs a museum here, where you, among other things, can read his last letter home.Phone: 026- 61 34 25 Högbo Iron MillHögbo Iron Mill is situated 30 km from Gävle and 6 km from Sandviken. It is a place where you can experience a unique combination of nature, sporting activities and cultural history. Here the newly discovered Bessemer process was taken into the industrial production of iron in 1858. This mill was later to form both the city of Sandviken and the company with the same name. The company Sandviken is today one of the largest exporting companies in Sweden. Högbo offers more than iron mills.
