There are several campinggrounds in the province and they all have quite a large number of activities. Some campgrounds have limited services during off-season and prices can also vary between seasons. Most campinggrounds have cabins for rent if visitors prefer not to stay in tents or caravans.

Cottage rentals

More than 18.000 cottages are available for rent throughout Sweden. Weekly rates vary from SEK 800 and up to SEK 6.000 depending on location, size and standard. Hotels

There are about eleven hotels of differing standards in Dalsland and all of them are very beautifully situated. Many of the hotels have special prices during the summer season when the room-prices are reduced. Prices can differ depending on the standard.

Youth Hostels

Dalsland has about 10 youth hostels and most of them are open all year round. The Håverud, Åmål and Mellerud youth hostels do not demand any booking in advance.Memebers of the Swedish Tourist Association (Svenska turistföreningen) get a discount of about 30%.

Restaurants

Since Dalsland has so many lakes and is situated on the western coastline of the lake Vänern, it is only natural that all kinds of fish are available in restaurants. But apart from that, traditional swedish food is also served everywhere.The provincial dish of Dalsland is a very simple and the traditional sandwich, called 'Klengås' or 'Sannost', is simply a slice of bread covered with a spread made of boiled whey. This dish was easy to make and thus eaten by people when they were out working in the woods or in the fields.
