Skiing in Dalarna

Idre Village

Stay in cosy hotels and guest-houses or comfortable chalets. Apres-ski possibilities close at hand in Idre Village as well as grocery stores, sports shops, petrol stations, craft boutiques and a Tourist Office. Idre Fjäll

Idre Fjäll has 32 lifts and 30 runs. Idre Fjäll is a very popular family resort, with many activities for children. There is also an excellent ski school. Cosy evenings in the inn, livebands, dancing or relaxing sporting activities in the adventure pool is part of the adult apres-ski. Fjätervålen

Fjätervålen offers wonderful downhill skiing. There are many long runs and you just need one lift to get to their starting point at the top at 1000 m. There are 100 km of marked cross-country tracks and 16 km of trails through woods and mountains. You can have a ride on a snow-scooter or try reindeer- or dog-sledging. Särna

Särna offers inexpensive accommodation and all the area's ski complexes are within easy reach by car. Särna has great possibilities for ice-fishing and the country's best ice-climbing.

Borlänge

Romme Alpine

Romme Alpine offers varied downhill skiing just 220 km from Stockholm. There is a also a ski-school and skis for hire. Phone: 0243-23 53 00.

Falun

Lugnet Sports centre offers possibilities for almost all winter-sports, Cross-country skiing, curling, scating, ice-hockey and bandy. Phone: 023- 835 00

Sälen

Sälen is one of Scandinavia's largest ski resorts. It offers 157 runs, many of them lighted, 97 lifts with a capacity of 100 000 people/hour. There are 150 km of cross-country tracks.

Sälen offers skiing for both beginners and advanced skiers, from green to black runs and off-pist. There are also many activities besides skiing; snow-scooter safaris, horse- and dog-sledging, paragliding, helicopter trips, scating etc. If the weather is bad there is a number of indoor activities, such as swimming, bowling and cinema etc. Accommodation in 48 000 beds in guesthouses, 28 chalet villages, 12 hotels and 4 000 private- owned holiday cottages.
