Built in 1893, located down by the harbour, just opposite the ferry landing, the skipper's house is a rich heritage of the fishermen's every day life of the past - even if Skipper Arvidsson was better off than some. His entire home and interiors are intact, down to the children's toys. When his daughter Anna died in 1987, the house was left in the hands of a trust and converted into a museum - nothing has been touched since! There is also a photo exhibition in the house. Original pictures, 3 000 years old, are carved into smooth granite rocks, with a visual language so rich and intense that the Tanum-carvings are now included in the list of the collected cultural heritage of the world - The World Heritage List. In April 1998 a newly built museum will open in the midst of this world heritage. A museum surrounded by rocks carved with a multitude of signs and figures.
