Fishing in Bohuslän

The fishing oppurtunities are excellent in Bohuslän. You can choose between deep sea fishing, sea angling, casting from the coastal rocks or freshwater fishing. There is a fee when fishing in the lakes and rivers, while the coastal fishing is free of charge. The tourist offices will help you arrange the permits. Some offices even sublet life-vests and fishing equipment.

Deap sea fishing

The warm Gulf current brings the clean and salty ocean-water to the coastline. The big depths and the ideal watertemperatures are the guarantees for top rate fishing around the year and over 40 species have their home here. Cod, ling, mackerel, whiting, catfish, cuckoo wrasse, sea devil, grey curnard and wolf-fish to mention a few. For information on availible boat-trips, please call the tourist offices at Marstrand. Kungälv, Bästkusten, Lysekil, Smögen, Fjällbacka, Grebbestad, Tanum and Strömstad.

Fresh-water fishing

You will find salmon, trout, rainbow trout, pike, perch and eel in the lakes and streams of Bohuslän. Places to choose from are Nordre Älv and Svartedalen (Kungälv), Hällungen (Stenungsund), Herrestadsfjället (Uddevalla), Kynnefjäll and the Bullaren lakes (Loftet).with the parentheses indicating the tourist office to call. You can also fish in the Bäveån downtown Uddevalla. The fishing district of Munkedal deserves a special mention. Here the fisherman can enjoy all kinds of fishing in one day. Start off with salmon-fishing in the Örekil river and then try the lakes, before going on a boat-trip on the salty Gullmarsfjord.

Västsvenska Turistrådet, the regional tourism commision in Bohuslän has put together some fishing packages. They include accomodation, fishing permits if needed, all the boat trips and some include meals as well. Choose between fresh-water fishing in Bullaren and three different deep sea tours.
