DivingScuba-Diving is popular in Bohuslän, with divers from all over Europe. Therefore we suggest, you book both your dive excursions and your accomodation some days in advance. Despite the many dive-shops, the boats tend to get full, as do the hostels. The rocky coastline and rough autumn storms, as well as the second World War, have contributed to the 800 known wreckages in our waters. Some of them are lying close enough off the shore so you will not need a boat-transport. In Gullmarsfjorden with its depths of 120 m and a shallow entrance, you will find a rich and unique fauna. Overall, the extra salty water in the province makes for a fauna with oceanic structure, with species represented that usually dwell in bigger depths or only further south. You will find sea anemons, scallops, oysters, common limpets, sea squirts and edible sea bugs to mention a few. In the same area of Bohuslän (offshore Lysekil) you can dive for the wrecks of the German WWII vessels Amasis and Antares.
