Bergslagen

Bergslagen is the only part of Ronneby that was not destroyed during the Great Fire in 1864 which razed almost the entire city to the ground. Almost all houses in Bergslagen are from the 18th century and you will find a very active cultural life in this part of the city. The Möllebackagården museum shows many items from an 18th century household. Mor Oliviagården is a centre for handicrafts, arts and design, with new and permanent exhibitions. The Church of the Holy Cross (Heliga kors kyrka) dates from the 12th century and is located on a hill with a view over Ronneby. In the church you can still see marks from the King Erik XIV's rampages during the Ronneby Bloodbath. The Cultural Center (Kulturcentrum) hosts art exhibitions, a photolab & videostudio, cinema and a tourist information centre.

The Björketorp Stone (Björketorpsstenen)

The Björketorp Stone is one of the strangest runestones in Sweden. The stone is 4 meters high and was carved 650-700 AD. According to the mysterious text will anyone who moves or destroys it be cursed. The stone is located at Björketorp, 7 km east of Ronneby.

The Hjortahammar burial ground is large and mighty. There are 120 graves visible and many more are underground. Most graves date from the later Iron Age/Viking Era, about 700 - 1050 AD.The burial ground is situated 17 km east of Ronneby.
